Broadland Archives

To preserve the Broadland collection is historically paramount for the school and the greater Launceston community.

The Broadland House Old Girls Memorabilia Room is dedicated to Aimee Elizabeth Stevenson (Boatwright) in recognition of the loyal service to the Old Girls Association and was officially opened in 2013 by Mrs Faith Layton AM who compiled 'An Establishment for Young Ladies'. Faith writes -

“Of course, we do not want any changes till time makes them inevitable.  But change-overs can lead to memorabilia being dismembered and at best tucked away, to be forgotten, in a dusty and inaccessible place. The memorabilia is a meaningful collection and worthy of preservation and will become more valuable as an educational resource as time passes. Already it is both an educational and a social history, deserving of recognition in its own right. Old Girls are still finding, and donating, bits and pieces that tell yet another story of former days at Broadland.

I’m sure our own regional library would be interested in this collection as a history of both society and a girls’ school from the students’ perspective, but, I’m sure, we all want it to remain where it belongs on the former site of Broadland House.”

Mrs Faith Layton

The Collection consists of original records, Paintings, Photographs, Trophies, School Badges, Speech Night Programs
